Six select Open Heritage documentaries are featured as part of the Living the City exhibition, taking place  21 May – 20 June 2021 at the  Berlin-Tempelhof Airport.

Created in the form of short documentaries, the The Open Heritage series tells the comprehensive story of each unique adaptive heritage re-use site: their histories, the people behind them, their structures, financial models and future aspirations.

Produced by Eutropian’s Levente Polyak and Yilmaz Vurucu for the Open Heritage project, the selected documentaries provide a detailed look into repurposed or reactivated urban heritage sites from across Europe.

The Living the City Exhibition

Living the City tells over fifty stories from architecture, art, and city planning projects that reveal processes and possibilities for action in cities across Europe.
The former airport will be transformed into a venue for city life for three months. In a walk-through urban collage, visitors will encounter a range of stories from people and projects that are actively involved in the city and civic society. These stories ask questions concerning fundamental activities like loving, living, making, participating, learning, playing, moving, and dreaming in the city. These are stories that shape and transform, that make you feel and think. Furthermore, a wide-ranging event and education program invites everyone to actively participate and contribute.

Among the key outcomes of the Open Heritage project, which identifies and tests some of the best practices of adaptive heritage re-use in Europe, are the video case studies. Created in the form of short documentaries, the videos tell the comprehensive story of each unique Observatory Case: their histories, the people behind them, their structures, financial models and future aspirations.  Read more about the inspiring cases and the stories behind the making of these highly unique documentaries!
